OK I'm starting to practice my Bullseye shooting with my new to me 14-3 but would like to mount a dot on it. I have seen the Allchin mount for the mini open dots and it looks nice but what mount do I need for a tube type dot? Preferably something that does not need drill & tap work to mount. Thanks

There used to be a mount that used the sight base screw and also clamped to the sides of the frame. I don't know how secure they were or if they held zero.

I ordered and installed one of the no-drill bases.
The thing was so poorly engineered that I would never have fired the gun.
Threw it away, had the gun D&T and installed a Weigand rail, and never looked back.
Best thing I ever did. Turned a safe queen into my most-used revolver.
If you're looking at red dot sights for bullseye, the MatchDot is the one used by many of the top competitors.

Check the Smith Enterprises website or Brownells. There are several replacement handguards with Picitinny or Weaver rails as part of the guard. Smith has the scope mount that attaches per the M-21 system, locking at the receiver side and stripper clip guide.

Thanks for the suggestions. I guess I'll pick my base and get my gunsmith to d&t for it. I was looking at the Matchdot for my dot so it sounds like I'm on my way.
