I just bought this thing and it has the worse trigger I have ever felt on a revolver, is there any way to improve it? do they make two models one for California and one for the rest of us? There is got to be a reason this trigger is so stout. I'm not new to S&W revolvers I have several but none with a trigger Like this one, its almost like a two stage.

TRR8? They deliver with stout triggers, but are generally smoother and even and lend themselves to adjusting as needed.

Tom at TK Custom can make it smoothe as you would like in a month.

My R8 has a sweet trigger - similar to my old, well-worn Model 14. They are Performance Center guns so if it is really that bad I'd send it back to S&W. Is it new? If not maybe it got Bubba'd by the PO.

If it was my gun and I'm not getting what I think I should get for what I paid it goes back to S&W. lifetime warranty needs to be given a chance. What happens if you pay money to a custom shop & it comes back & has light strikes or anything else that goes wrong. Does the custom shop pay shipping both ways to fix it. This is a question because I don't know about custom shops.

Mine was stiff . Certainly stiffer than the trigger on my 627PC. Especially after I tightened the strain screw down (it was out about 1/2 turn on delivery.) FWIW, a 13# trigger return spring and a little internal polishing to get it pretty sweet. Utube has a few video's on the process if your interested in doing your own. It's actually very easy (and interesting.)
All that said, if it really is that bad, call S&W CS and let them know . You wouldn't be the first to get a factory trigger job under warranty.

Are you referring to the DA's feel? ...SA's feel? ...both?

My TRR8's SA trigger was 4.5# out of the box, fairly typical. Can't measure the DA pull with my scale but they're always pretty hard, in comparison.

I'm only concerned with my SA pull & that's easily corrected to ~3#.

If yours is way out of line, from others, call S&W & run it by them. Can't hurt.
