First time replacing 39 sight. Don’t get any feel of pin in front to be depressed. Only get .075” movement to left and solid stop. Can’t see
what the problem is from diagram. Is there spring under this pin that may be collapsed?

What is , “this pin”?

The front of the leaf is the spring.
Carefully pry up front of leaf to clear slide and quarter turn. Can’t remember which direction.

It doesn't matter what direction the rear sight is turned once the front og the spring leaf is raised above the top of the slide. Sounds like you are asking about a coil spring. Do you mean the magazine disconnect spring that is located under the rear sight? If the magazine disconnector isn't operating that spring has probably been removed deliberately to de-activate the magazine disconnect feature, this is very common with the Model 39.

Thanks, had it did in 30seconds, new one in 60 seconds. I never had sight off one before. I was told to tap a small punch in slot in front of tang & hold down. I fell no spring so drug out schematic and saw nothing. Had couple new 39rears in parts stash. Just got nice 39 with windage screw burred up and that would keep me up at night.
