M41 Ammo question

M41 has performed flawlessly over the past year. S/N 110XXX.
Bought two cases of CCI Standard Velocity, and the fail-to-eject, fail-to-feed problems began.
Is the ammo too waxy? I've tried oiling the first round in the magazine, but still get the occasional fail-to-eject.
Anybody else seeing problems in their M41 with CCI SV?
I'm hoping I don't have 8,500 rds left that don't work in this gun!

My older 41 had a lot of failure to eject problems with several types of ammo. I changed the springs new main and new extractor along with extractor spring and 1st time out it functioned flawlessly with CCI SV 2nd time I had a couple of failures with 1st couple of rounds off top of the magazine. I have cleaned it up and need to test it again. But without a doubt the springs greatly improved the problem.

There is also an extractor modification which I have not tried but may with my original extractor

I wish this posting was more upbeat... but I had the same problems with my '63 M41 with a 5" field barrel and 5.5" bull barrel.
Over the course of 3-4 months I had cleaned it repeatedly before every outting until there was not a micron of anything on the gun except gun oil, changed the extractor spring and got the "calibration spring pack" from Wolf.
After lots of rounds down range I finally came to the conclusion it simply wasn't going to be reliable with anything but high velocity loads.
If loaded with 5 or 6 rounds to start with it would function pretty well but if loaded to the max I'd get maybe 75% of the time it would fail to eject the 1st, 2nd and/or 3rd round of CCI Std. Vel.
On the other hand, my 5.25" tapered barrel Ruger MkII works with everything I feed it and is just as accurate.
Just got tired of tinkering...sadly, the M41 was sold last week.

When I had a S&W 41 it functioned exceptionally well with CCI SV ammo. I use Aquilla SV ammo in my S&W 46 with no malfunctions.

Thanks guys! Had I not had a full year, and 7,000 rds of CCI SV through this gun no problem, I'd be wondering about the gun.
Tried a different lot of CCI SV, worked perfect. Tried Federal Match, and Wolf Target Match- flawless. Went back to my lot (G28R01) of CCI SV, and problems again.
Anybody want to buy 16 bricks of CCI SV?
It simply doesn't like my gun.

First there is a special buffer from Buffer Technologies (i think) designed for the M. 41 Thats the best $8.00
insurance you can buy for this fine gun. With that installed you can fire any ammo you like.
Second keep an extra recoil spring. Replace when the gun starts to misfire.
And third of course do not dry fire any rimfire gun without a dummy

The ONLY ammo that I have had problems with in my Model 41 is the Remington Target load. Then again, I have had problems with that ammo in every .22 - there .22 ammo is terrible (IMO) and unreliable. Their Thunderbolt ammo is just about the wprst I've ever used.

I find the best performing ammo for my M41 is Federal Champion (blue box) which I can find on sale for about $23.00 a brick. In a pinch the Winchester Wildcat is OK, just not quite as well QC'd as the Fed stuff. I will not go near the Rem stuff anymore!

Did you ever take apart the magazines and clean them? I was having FTF and FTE problems with the same ammo too. Turned out that the magazines were full of crap (I couldn't believe how much!) and the followers didn't run smoothly or straight. 22s rely heavily on proper magazine function to ensure proper feeding and ejection. Once they were thoroughly cleaned the gun ran fine.

I have a M41 s/n 13xxx made in 1958 7 3/8" with Muzzle Break. I have stuck to standard velocity including CCI SV or match ammo and have not had any problems.
