M4516-1 Project (MkI)

I am impressed- superb effort. Your knowledge & skills are obvious from the pics in this thread.

Congrats on a job well done

Looks great. Did you make that stand?

Gary, that's a V E R Y long post when you quote the W H O L E thing but a great question. I assumed R made it himself of course.

"guzzitaco" that 4516 knocks it out. You always had it dialed in even when you were doing so much by hand but you've eclipsed yourself.

Just wondering? Maybe I missed the answer in your other posts but what are you doing spring wise? I'm sure Wolf but are you doing any + or - changes? When I've done -, + ones complimented nicely. (Hammer and firing pin for instance.) Are you changing ejector and magazine catch springs from factory lbs? Oh and since you are your hand model again, consider a MANicure.

Sorry for the questions that interest me.

Jim

That's why I put the quote below my post. OTOH, I could have just asked the question without quoting anything. I plead fatique after a long day doing an extensive PM on my snow blower.

Hi Jim,
thanks for the nice comments...

BMCM made and installed a bushing on the gun so I can use a "thin" guide rod. With that I can run a double spring (stock or Springco) or a flat spring. I am running an ISMI flat spring on this gun. 100% reliable IMHO. I know the flat springs have been a subject of discussion recently, but I have had great result with them, so I run them on my compact .45's and on my M1013.

For hammer spring I always prefer stock. I don't like playing with "softer" springs to get a lighter pull, since this is a gun I plan to carry (a lot), I don't want to put reliability at risk. In my opinion a proper trigger job will give a long, smooth and consistent pull in DA and the following shots in SA will be crisp with a very short reset. I know that others have a different opinion on hammer springs, and I respect those opinions, but this is what I use.

Rest of the springs are also stock...

Regarding the "manicure"...oh well...

Nice pairing and outstanding quality as usual!
Have you tried that 4516 slide on the 4513 yet?
You know, for uh comparison ;)

You do fantastic work man. These are beautiful guns

As always masterful work. I think the only way to possibly top the overall beauty of your skilled work would be in replicating the Smith & Wesson slide markings and adding "GuzziTaco - GT Performance Center"

As always , a work of art Guzzi ! It seems wild looking at my 457 , the one you did by hand , and what you do now . It's a wonder the guys from the revolver side aren't beating down your door yet . But then with the new job you probably don't have the time . Stay safe down there buddy and keep your powder dry .
