Without a serial number, the best we can do is say that if it has the model number, it's after 1956. If it has a pinned barrel, it's 1982 or earlier.

To get any closer the SN might be helpful. The 38/49/649 are great pocket guns, as well as ankle holster or purse carry. Shown: 649 and 38, both no-dash. For some odd reason the two M49 that I have start out the serial number with; ACMxxxx & ADWxxxx, that I picked up in 2011. Enjoy.
