M547 3” K Frame. New Grips!

I have a 3'' and like it. Due to its operating system its got a stiff trigger. Its quite noticeable to me as I do most of my shooting in double action mode.

I live in NY and also had a wait to get my gun, in my area it can vary from a few days to a few weeks. They work at their own schedule!

The action on mine is stiffer than my other K frames. I was wondering if it the chambering, gummed up grease or ?

Thanks for the info!

Mine is not noticable different from any other K-frame and has a smooth DA-trigger. Maybe a good cleaning/oiling under the sideplate will help. If never done, these guns go 40 years back, so that might be the reason.

That picture with the Spegel grips is what inspired me to get on Craig's "wait list". Eventually my 547 will also be wearing Spegel's. For now, here it is with the smooth, RB target stocks...

Adios,

Pizza Bob

While Mr. Spegel's grips are extraordinary, the targets you have are nothing to sneeze at. They are beautiful.

That's what I hoping.

Thanks!

Back when these came out, I had a shop in VA. Did my Dist. a favor and took four of them . Could not give them away. After 90 days, I sent them back.

I think they were ahead of their time.

And should have been set up for moon clips.

But, apparently, they were made to customer demand and the public got the left overs.

When I ordered mine I thought I was getting the target stocks like in the picture on the brochure. When it arrived it had the the others. I was disappointed. When I finally found a set. I also picked up a speed loader but didn't really like them. Those speed loaders can scratch your gun if your not careful.

I ended up installing rubber stocks and it changed the whole balance of the gun. The gun has never been holstered it only goes to the range.

Shoots very accurately. The target is 20 or 21 feet. 6 shots were DA the rest were SA.

You will enjoy yours.

I live in Chevy Chase. Commie country central.

You?

Greetings from Bel Air. It's amazing, isn't it, that we have all these gun laws in this state, and nothing seems to affect the one jurisdiction where the vast majority of Maryland's gun crime occurs...

Gee, you'd almost think the problem isn't guns...

That your 547 didn't ship with the RB target grips is a significant piece of information.

Maybe my grips are original to the gun.

Thanks for posting!

The idiocy of "gun control," passing laws which only affect the the law abiding citizens and not the law breakers. Or, "How to make the law abiding vulnerable to the lawless."

NICE gun...you will enjoy it once it gets out of "the pound"....

Had been looking for a reasonably priced one for years... Another forum member who I get together with once in a while told me he was selling his... I asked what he wanted for it and I said sold...and then he gave it to me for what he had in it which was several hundred less... Original numbered to the gun Banana grips, Magna stocks with a Tyler T-grip and a set of Pachmayer grips...speed loaders included...

Can't beat friends like that...Bob

Here's a picture of the tag. The guy who told me to order one showed me his and his had the combat stocks. Mine didn't.

If RB is the code for the target stocks then they were switched on me at work before I took delivery. RB may mean round butt.
I worked for a company that was owned by a parent company. The Parent Company also owned S&W.

We could buy guns at work at cost plus 10%.

The RB on the box means round butt; SB would mean square butt.

But we now have two know instances of 547 3" showing up without the RB targets. And that's contrary to what is generally understood. ETA: Mine would be # 3 with RB Magnas, if that's what they're called.

Tonight I'll get more into SCSW 4th.

I picked up my 547 today following Maryland's seven day wait.

I can conclusively report the the grips aren't original since the are numbered to a different gun.

I put a set of Thai knock off combats on while waiting for delivery of a great looking set of presentation RB targets and a great looking set of original combats acquired from a member here.

The 547 needed some tlc. It still needs a detailed strip and clean but 15 minutes with some Pennzoil and bronze wool did wonders.

You are SO close to the free side of the Mason/Dixon line.

Why are you still in MD?

To earn a living and wifey.

But despite some really dumb laws, it isn't bad in MD. NFA is ok and I have SBRs and suppressors, hunting suppressed is ok. Night hunting for species legal to hunt at night is ok with NV and thermal…
