M60-10 Target

Anyone have one of these ? Or know anything about them ? Going to look at a couple of m41s , lnib , circa early 1970's tomorrow . He texted and says he also has a m60-10 3in with adjustable sights . I whipped out the bible and it says only one variation of the 60-10 was made , 1996 Target variation . Any help out there ? I'm usually a semi auto guy , but when I see a nice revolver , I've been known to pounce on it .

I had one, nice little gun ,shot good, 5 shot , j frame 3inch with a full underlug.
They had black or blue ones also, cant remember. They go for around 7-8 now. Their is a newer variation but its a 357, that might be a bit much.

I had a 3" Model 60, it was later than a dash-10 however, mine was an ILS gun. It wasn't bad, it was definitely an accurate little revolver but it wasn't enjoyable for me to shoot.

There is a rare Model 60 variation that actually has a FIVE inch barrel, I probably wouldn't enjoy that much either, but I would definitely prefer it over the 3-inch.

The 60-10 is a 357 Magnum, 5 shot J frame, with a 3 barrel. As far as I know, they all came with adjustable sights. Full under lug as CALREB says.

I have a 60-9 which is also a 357, but with a 2.125" barrel and fixed sights.

These have no internal lock and are in demand and hard to find.

If you can get a good price, it would be a nice gun to pick up as you may not get many chances to do so.

I have one and love it. It's my sidearm of choice when hiking or hunting. Plenty of stopping power for 2 or 4 legged predators in E. TN.
I also have the .38 version (60-4) and the later IL (60-14).
a 3" target sighted J frame is just about perfect. Small enough to not get in the way. Big enough to get the job done accurately.

I have a shooter grade 60-10 that was at one time a favorite of mine. All the 60-10s have all pretty much been the same except for a few Magnaported models. I have sense fallen in love with a 3” 686. The 60-10 is much smaller than the 686 but only sacrifices two rounds.

I have had a 60-10 for many years. It is about as small as you can get in a very shootable revolver with 357 Magnum power. With 38 wadcutters, it is like shooting a 22. Being all steel with very well designed grips, it is not bad with 357 magnum ammo unlike the 340 which stings when shooting magnums. Small enough to carry concealed but big enough to shoot well. It is one of my favorites.

I've seen three 60-10s sell this year on Internet sites: $469, $481 & $536. Those prices are way down from what they've gone for in the last few years.

I like mine, but I like my 36-6 better (blue vs stainless) even if I give up the magnum capability.

Had one and sold it to my brother for his wife thinking it would be easy to find another. Not so much.
Finally got another in VG condition with box and paperwork. This one ain’t going anywhere.
Probably the most versatile handgun I own. Great woods gun loaded with 158 gr 357’s and really fun to shoot with 38’s. Very accurate as well.
If you can grab it for a reasonable price, you should not be disappointed.

Its my favorite camping/hiking gun. Small and light, you don't even notice it on your belt. I load it up with the old 158gr SWCHP+P FBI load and I'm sure it'll handle anything I might run into in my neck of the woods.

The 3" Model 60 Chiefs Special Target has been with us for decades. First as a 38 Special revolver and more recently as a 357 Magnum revolver

Mine pictured above is a Lew Horton Distributor exclusive version of the 3" Model 60 Chiefs Special Target called the "Small Hunter"

Though any and all of them are fine little wheel guns and will serve you well for many years

Another 60-10 here. I had high hopes for putting it in my rotation. Even had a holster made for it. It's usually in the safe these days, though. The 640 is the usual revolver. It is a nice little gun, though.

I’m with the Grayfox. My two best shooting buddies have/had adjustable sighted Model 60s, one a -4 and the other a -10. I liked them so much that I got a -4, and as others have said, this one isn’t going anywhere. I replaced the cheesy Uncle Mike’s grips with ebony (from Thailand) and it’s the most natural feel of any gun I own. If I couldn’t find a -4 and got a decent price on a -10, it would come home with me, but I can’t imagine shooting very many 357s through it!

Been away for a few days......... but great decision IMO...... micro (5 shot) 686..... the ultimate "Kit Gun" ..... had mine for about a decade now..... can't beat it for an all the time woods gun.... that can double for concealed carry if you have to go into town....... generally carry and shoot +P.38s but have the option of 158 soft points when wondering around in Penn's Woods!

I agree with Bam-Bam. It really is a versatile little revolver. You can carry it on your belt all day and not know it’s there. Has plenty of power. Can be worn concealed, or not. More accurate than you can hold and squeeze. You can shoot anything from low-speed 125 gr LFN .38 Specials up to as wild as you care to go in .357s. It’s not as handsome as it’s older brother the 60-4, but doesn’t miss it by too much. Lots of good things and very few not so good. You’ll love your 60-10 for just about everything, except maybe formal bullseye target shooting.
