Well my 64-6 ended up being a 64-3 when it arrived. About 20 years older than I was figuring on. I talked with the dealer and found out what happened. He had bought 30 that were all supposed to be 64-6 guns. I bought the last one, and it ended up being a dash 3. He offered to order in another batch, and hand select me the best one. I looked the 64-3 over a little better, and decided to save the dealer some money and kept the one he shipped. It was well taken care of, and locked up nicely. I could have done worse on a Dash 6.
Sight height for a 1911 Novak Cut front sight is .170. A standard 1911 sight height.
It came with a brand new set of Hogue Rubber Grips.
I have done a little polishing, and changed the springs to Wolfe. It had the springs worked on before I got it. It was also clean inside, and well oiled. Who ever the Guard or Police Officer was who had this old gun, he took very good care of it. Who ever worked on it was pretty good also. The Rebound Spring had been clipped, from the way it looked. It worked great. What can I say. So far I have not made the trigger any better than it was when I got it. Which was not bad at all. I just figured I could make it a little better.
I shot our Defensive Pistol match with the 64, as it came out of the box. We shoot 4 Stages. We only had 1 reload on the clock. I beat my 1911 Match time by 2 seconds. I made a very good reload with my old HKS Speed Loader. Where I gained the most time was shooting out the passenger car window strong hand. I shot the 64 faster accurately one handed than I did the 1911.
I think I am going to like this old gun just fine.
