I went in to a pawn shop this morning – one of the big chain stores. I spotted a M66 on one of the shelves, I have been looking for a 66 in 4” for a while, this one is a 6”. It looked good so I asked their best price – not bad, but it is a 6”. I made a counter offer, but he stood on the price. I told the guy I would probably regret leaving but if it was there later I might consider.
I ran some errands, came back later at picked it up for his price - $370 + tax = $400. I got my DL and CHL licenses out, and showed the money. I filled out the paper work, but they would not proceed until I changed the location of Jr. My TX DL, TX CHL, and my USA passport have my name in the same manner. They said their internal auditors required them to format in their way – even if my legal documents are the same. I never had any problem with any other FFL dealer questioning how the name is formatted as long as it matches the legal documents. After a prolonged, firm discussion – I would not make the change to meet their auditor requirement, the transaction was completed.
I gave the revolver a good cleaning. It had been fired with a lot of 38 Special loads – I had to clean the ridge out before it could chamber 357 Magnum ammo. The right side has a few scratches on the side plate, but it is in verrry good condition. It is a M66-2, and the SN is AED56xx. The target grips are dated May 1984.
