I've been wanting some of this stuff for a while. I found a deal on 500 rounds so I committed to it and think I'll try it out. I've read mixed reviews about it. Some would lead me to stay away from it, some would cause me to bet my life on it. I guess what sold me on it was a couple of video demonstrations I saw with it's use on Youtube. I was impressed a small caliber could go through the test media that was being presented in the demo. It sold me.

Anyone have any experiences with this ammo they'd like to share? I will be shooting in two separate barrels, one with a 1:7 twist rate the other with a 1:9 rate. I've read these are the optimum twist rates for this round. I'm interested in the comments I will hear. Thanks in advance.

MV is king up close M193 pentrates better (200 meters and less). Both have similar terminal effects and yaw/fragment (M193) or shed jacket (M855) within 150 meters for 16" or 200 meters for 20" barrels. Beyond 200 meters both tend to just drill .22 cal holes unless they hit bone then they might yaw but likely won't fragment. If you need to pentrate a helmet at 800 meters then the M855 is the round to use.

I've used both the 193 and the M855. In my 20" (1:9), I found the M855 to be a little more accurate. Both work fine and my AR has open A2 sights so I can't really go for tiny groups. The M855s seemed to hold better groups at 100yds though.

ar-15.com has something called the ammo oracle. There was far too much info for me to remember there. I highly suggest you read the essays there.

I've known several men who killed other men with M-16s. The two who talked to me about the wounds M193 made were impressed. The one who shot people with M855 wasn't impressed at all.

I fired a three round group with my M-16A1 clone at fifty yds. that could be entirely covered with a dime. The ammo was Malaysian M193 and i was using iron sights.
