Hello my fellow forum members :)
I'm sure I have not been waiting nearly as long as some of you to get your hands on a Shield (about 3 months now)! Not only is it hard enough to find one in stock, I live in MA and so it ALSO has to be "MA compliant". I know there is a "Shield in Stock" thread already going but I was hoping someone would post in this thread if they come across a MA compliant one in either model. Thanks in advance and wish me luck...lol!!

I feel your your pain brother, I seached for many months for a Shield, a non compliance model. I ended up buying a Kahr MK40 to tide me over until I could get my hands on one. I found one two days before I received my Kahr. So I had the Shield first, and it is my carry gun. I do love the Kahr, is is a very fine gun, built way better than the S&W Shield, but a little on the heavy side. They both shoot about the same, with the Kahr comeing out very slightly on top for accuracy and recoil. But the Shield is on my side right now, and I will not part with it.

There is a local forum called Northeastshooters.com - Frontpage News

Join up. Lots of info. They usually post when a dealer gets some Shields in. Just gotta be patient. Some dealers get a lot of them at once and have them for a week or more. Good luck.

Thanks for the info, I just signed up this morning. I'm going to the Gun Show in Plymouth, MA next weekend maybe i'll get lucky!!

M&P9c :p

I had a Shield40 for a couple of months, then sold it. I don't get all the Shield love? Size diff btwn the Compact, with greater ammo mag cap, & the Shield ain't much. Hate if you must but my Taurus PT745 Pro & PT140 Pro (both been very reliable) are about the same size as the Shield but they fit better in my hand.

BTW, love my Compact 9.

I just got a full size .40 a couple weeks ago. Four Seasons has range kits in 9mm available as of 4pm today. I think I may pick one up to. Can anyone tell me if it's a dumb idea to have a M&P40 and 9 (sorry to sorta thread jack)? Let me know if you're interested and when/if I go tomorrow I'll tell them I'm interested in 2 kits and just chat til you can get there.

No shields though.

I bought an M&P 40 FS over the 9 for the extra power. I love the 40 FS but I have had the opportunity to shoot a 40 Shield and I think my preference would be a 9 Shield. The 40 Shield had a bit more kick than my wife's 40c. In a concealed carry situation I want as much control as I can get. With the right ammo the results on a bad guy should be about the same. My 2¢

I actually got tired of waiting for the Shield so yesterday I went and picked up the .40c instead. IMO the Shield's price is so inflated due to its high demand. The compact feels so good in my hand and is so versatile. $520 OTD and I couldn't be happier!!ImageUploadedByTapatalk1363912044.718016.jpg

That's why I went with the .40c. Not to mention being able to use FS mags in it. That's nice!

Guns Inc. in W. Springfield, MA just got over 100 Shields in stock this week. $440.00.

I walked into my local Gander Mountain about 5 months ago and they had a Shield 9 sitting there so I bought it. I've had my M&P 9c for over a year now and I like it vastly more (capacity, feel, adjustable back straps, rail, no external safety, more accurate, insanely reliable.....).

If my wife didn't like the Shield so much it would be a goner. It's not a bad gun. It is a bit thiner, just not the gun the 9c has proven to be. Just my $.02.

Dnizzle80, Good luck with the 40c. You won't look back sir!

Yeah I heard about that today, bought my compact yesterday. Oh well! Thanks though.

Sorry, I must have been in the process of replying when you posted that.

The compact is a great firearm though. I shot one last year and love it. the 40c (with a 9mm barrel) may be my next purchase!

Enjoy your new firearm!

Where is that located? Is it on River Road? I'm out at Westover and while being a NH resident I can't buy jack in MA it is still nice to get out to a LGS wherever I travel.

Isn't that always the way? Been waiting, waiting, waiting forever and then say screw it I'm not waiting anymore......make a purchase and a day later what you've been waiting for is now available...I bought my 9 Shield at MSRP at SL Gunshop in Mason NH and then a week later Shooters Outpost about 20 minutes from my house gets hundreds of them in at 399....lesson learned...in Shooters I trust. Best buying power in Southern NH

IMHO...I think the Shield was a lot of hype. I had one of the first MA ones and sold it a few months after. I didn't really care for the narrow grip, or the limited capacity, but that's just me. If were to do it again, I probably would have picked up the the 9c.
