I recently shot some close up gun pics. Looking at it under a microscope is can be revealing.

the old Bi-focals don't always get it done.
Lots of the older crowd likes.. "Blow ups" !!

I set up my light box in the shade on a sunny day. Being a matte finish, just a sheet freezer paper in the shade would have worked too.

I too have done many macro shots see small stuff. What caught my eye first was the vertical laser marks in the grip checkering, I was expecting horizontal file marks? Doh!
Those rough looking spots I posted look perfect with the naked eye, and feel buttery smooth.
Send it back to the factory!!!
I 've been working on some Mossberg 22s lately. The pics help me diagnose malfunctions. Here is a pic of an ejector that needs to be reshaped.

Sometimes you run into a problem where close up shots are not much help.
