A few months ago we visited Mt. Rushmore, it was an awesome experience. One of the things you can do is buy state flags that are retired from the Avenue of Flags. We bought Missouri and it was delivered the other day. Sure enough, the triangular flag case it came in was made in China. I'm sure the flag was too. You'd think a monument like Mt. Rushmore could do better.

I also think that is terrible. Displaying and then selling flags from China. I still think of them as "the dirty rotten commie reds". I usually look and will not buy their junk. They keep telling us that it is a world market. B S

We make a good living off each other. I am not quite sure how it is possible since we dont produce anything. For the most part doesnt the working man cartoons etc always picture the person "working" in a office? Isnt just about 99% of movie plots show the actors all in some situation where they are doing anything and everything but work? Dont know how we do it.
Maybe I do. Its all a matter of trust. When people wake up and realize the money is counterfeit as no work or production produced it. I guess I was part of the problem too as a 35 year unproductive guard. Reminds me of that jerry clower story where a farmer bought a horse. His neighbor bought it from him and then the first farmer bought it back. It went back and forth between them for awhile each time the price went up $50`s. Finaly one came back to rebuy the horse only to find a horse buyer from texas came through and bought it. He yelled at the other farmer, What did you sell it for! We was making a good living off that horse!

We've done this to ourselves. We wanted everything cheaper and didn't care who made it. For years I paid more to buy American. Now I can't even do that anymore. When icons such as the Winchester 94 is made in Japan that speaks volumes as to how far we've fallen.

Should be the other way around!

It's getting ridiculous and the world is laughing at us.

I recently posted an article about that subject.

The love of money trumps everything in America.

Why keep our own people employed when you can profit more by using sub standard wages abroad.

I am not a global person and still try to buy as much American as possible! It is hard but American goods are there. I know some things you just can't help.
The one thing I refuse to buy is imported food!
Yep we did it to ourselves!

Yup, enough to make you feel a little ill, isn't it? They have a little rat-race where price is not really even much of a factor, and they buy and sell you Chinese. As an American, I'd say it's almost a slap to your face, but in reality I'm sure the person making the purchase decision couldn't care less - probably never gives it a thought.

You got that right (refusing to buy imported food). Look at some of the fish (for example) in the market. Much of it comes from Asia and you don't want to know how these fish are raised. Also, some imported food is treated by chemicals that are banned in the US. Watch every product, they have the country of origin listed on the package.

Stopped in Home Depot yesterday ..I " GET " the global economy thing... but even I was stunned to find THIS was made in China:eek::eek::eek::confused::confused::confused::confused:

There is at least ONE Flag Case Company that still makes their products right here in the USA. They go by the name Spartacraft and they can be ordered through a local Picture Frame Shop. When my Dad passed away three years ago that's what I bought for his burial flag. They are made from either 100% solid Cherry, Maple, Walnut or Oak and are very nicely made. Once ordered they take a few weeks to get. There are about 5 or 6 different styles and grades and could not imagine putting his flag into a Chinese made case.

Everything is made in China now. There working on our babies being made there too. Just two samples of your dna in a bottle and pick the gender and watch for the usps stork truck for delivery.

But my Auto-Ordnance 1911 made in Wooster,Mass & my Smith & Wesson revolvers are made in Springfield, Mass.

Now that there jobs are threatened I see these people crying buy American like that's going to save us now. Where was these people when I lost my job in '83, in '84 & in '85 in the first recession due to high interest rates and cheaper import machine tools?

Buy American now? Don't give me that ****. I want the best quality product for my American dollar and I don't care where it comes from.

America is all about the dollar and bottom line profits. It's let someone else manufacture it for there cheap labor and production costs then ship it here where the seller here makes the big profit.
Made in China means someone over there is working while someone here makes the money. The American worker doesn't want to work anyway in most cases. The Mexicans are taking jobs that no one wants here. There starting to get the better jobs too.

Buy American that's XXXX XXXX.

Unfortunately we have become a Throw Away society as well. The stuff is made so cheap it doesn't pay to get it fixed. We have become a lazy nation that does not want to work for anything and we want everything "Cheap"!
As for the comment on food,,,Steve you are 100% correct and I watch the grocery store very closely. As for restaurants welllll it's a **** shoot.
It's all about feeding the needs of the greedy!

Made In China

For the last few years of my working days the company where I was employed gave rewards for safe driving and safe working but the rewards were made in China, I refused to accept them and consequently was frowned on because of it. Yes we brought it on ourselves and we can undo this situation by altering our shopping habits. Ask for Made In USA Products and shop where they are available, you would be surprised how much difference it would make if everyone would stick together. Well the sticking together thing will work for other situations as well, electing our officials as an example.

I need to add that I'm OLD and can remember when Made In USA was the standard by which world was measured, we had pride in workmanship and stood behind our products. One used to be ashamed to offer an inferior product, now it doesn't matter, no accountability or sense of responsibility for the job that used to be a profession! Was it the Unions which caused this complacency?
Am also able to remember that certain employees who were not producing were protected and instead of being terminated, were promoted out of one supervisor's hair. OK, my apologies for the rant, I'll shut up.
