This really sucks....I'm so glad I don't live in one of these states.

Question....who inforces these capacity laws in each state?

Does it really get enforced?

How would he know if he isn't a LEO in a state with the restrictions.. its not like his department is educating him on it. I think its a valid question.

I know, right? I mean, who would enforce those laws in ban states? They'd need some sort of officer...

I apologize if I assumed the answer was obvious. I thought it should be to a police officer regardless of jurisdiction. But I don't know who else would enforce gun laws other than the police? I pictured it this way: Someone goes to a range in a state with a law against hi-cap mags, flash hiders, collabsible stocks and they start slamming 25 rounders into their MOE 15-22 and they are running through tactical drills at the firing line. Who is the range officer or the other people shooting going to call?
If you are asking who enforces the sale of magazines into the state, that I don't know. I can't even get Gander Mountain to ship .22LR's to my zip code and Wal-Mart's here don't carry firearms or ammo.

From what I have seen on some online sites is that they will not ship an assembled high cap magazine to states which do not allow them.

I hope that we don't see more restrictions as a knee jerk reaction now. Although on a .22 rifle, I don't the need for large capacity except on the range where reloading is somewhat of a detraction to the shooting part. But in the woods, or plinking, I can get along with changing mags more often. But that's just my opinion, which isn't all that important.

enforcement

I am a LEO, 36 years, in a non ban state. I assume these laws are state laws, so any LEO could enforce them. {glad I don't have to}

I guess I was asking "if" they get enforced all that often.

I know I wouldn't have the time or inclination to enforce them. I don't chose to take the time to enforce a lot of times through discretion.

I know a few AFT guys, they can't enforce state statute until they go to a special 2 week academy with the state. Same goes for ICE and Border Patrol.

When they are done, they have the legal ability to enforce state statutes. But even then, they call us if they get something.

It's too bad there are so many places that think limiting the mag capacity would make a difference if the attacker wants to put out several rounds and has several 10 round magazines.
If he's practiced at all, he can whip through several mags if he is using cover well. high cap doesn't matter if he's trained at all.

I've got burglary and theft reports to stay up with, if my supervisor saw me coming into the station with as pile of these
he'd tell me to return them and get after real crime.
