I was wondering if anyone tried the new maglite led flashlights on their AR? They do make quality lights but I don't know if they can withstand the recoil or heat without malfunction? Just a thought?

If you are speaking of the XL series, I have heard of people using them. However, I have also heard that you can get a true weapon light for the same price or less.

I have not used one, but for your question, if you got one that would fit in a standard light mount, I doubt the recoil from the AR would kill it, but this is just my opinion...no factual evidence. Mount it on your 12 gauge and I would change my tune....

If it is for hunting raccoon, or opossum, or for other non-life threatening use, I would give it a try. If you mount it and run through a high round count, high rate of fire and stress course with it and it doesn't die, then I would consider it good for other applications, but I would need hard evidence before I relied on it for HD / SD.

All the weapons Lights I looked at cost 2-3 times what a Maglite XL costs. I paid $30.00 for the XL...Please show me a quality weapons light in that price range?

No hunting here, Just a home defence rifle.

I have one of the Extreme Beam M-4 Scirrakos, this thing is a monster!
If you light up a bad guy, you'll be safe as they'll be blind.
Has a high beam, low beam, and strobe setting, and on the high setting will light up an object over 100 yds away.
Plus it'll mount on a rail using a 1" medium highth scope ring.

Maglight has always made a quality product. Carried and used several back in the 1980's when I was a street cop, and they took quite a bit of punishment.

Most weapon lights seem to fail at the switch or the bulb. LED bulbs have really increased reliability in that area, and Maglights have always been known for their switch reliability, at least in the 3 and 4 cell models I used.

I think when I get around to purchasing a quadrail, I will give the Maglite XL a try. I believe it's 1 inch in diameter so a light mount should be easy to find.

I'm not spending over $200.00 for a light & mount, that's a bit high. It's not for combat.

I'll bet the Maglite will work fine, if not, then i'm wrong!
