Magna stocks

The man who named them wanted to call them Magnum stocks, but he died mid word. Out of respect they used what he got out beforehand.

I’m reporting this second-hand as I don’t have the source book, but according to Walter Roper the name “Magna stocks” was the winner of a “Find the best name” contest that S&W held at Camp Perry in 1935.
They showed them off on a new K-22 which they raffled off, so a direct connection to the .357 Magnum seems unlikely.
