I'm a nostalgic kinda guy, so I put a set of factory round butt magnas on my 69. I have small hands and figured they'd be good, wrong! With full house 44 mags they ate the web of my hand up. I'm not recoil shy by any means I've been shooting 44 mags and 454s for years but mostly single action revolvers but this light weight DA is a dog with full power loads and small grips

Would like to see a picture of your Model 69 with Magnas. Have been thinking of one and also prefer Magnas. Thanks!

Tried some Altamont magnas on my 69 and yowzer! Then I tried a set of Targets from Altamonts, Yowzer! Then onto the Ahrends retro combats, not bad. My thumb was taking a beating where the thumb curled around the back of the gripframe.

I tried a set of Hogue K/L round butt rubber grips, AaaaHhhhh! The only revolver I own with rubber on the handle but it's going to stay that way.

No pain to thumb or to my hand, shoots comfortably!!!!!

That SO reminds me of the young police officer who took his CHL Instructor's test with me a few years back. The pistol test went fine but Instructors have to qualify with revolvers, too. He breaks out a 4" barreled .44 Magnum with checkered wood grips. Then he breaks out a box of standard .44 Magnum loads. The test is 50 rounds - the whole box. I looked at him and basically asked him if he knew how badly that was going to hurt. He's young, tough, and a Central Texas policeman - ain't gonna bother him none!

He qualified (score of 90% for Instructor qualification).

But at the end of the test he was bleeding, blistered, bruised, and bandaged. I hadda do it.....so I smiled and said, "Tolyaso." :)

He acknowledged that I was right and that he'd never do that again.

We couldn't shake hands.......for obvious reasons.....

At one time, the RB K/L grip frame was the cat's meow. Then I developed (for the 2nd time) neuroma/fibroma in the web of my shooting hand. While RB J's do not trouble me unduly, the same cannot be said for larger RB guns. Happily, I picked up several RB to SB UM rubber grips (no longer available on the S&W website), so I can fire these guns without too much pain. Pach SB grips can be used on RB guns; the grip is anchored by the grip pin on the frame.

Those with Colt Mk V magnum guns: ALERT. The "magna" style service grip on the Mk V Lawman snub feels great in the hand, but is an absolute beast when firing.
