So one complaint about my A1 model 15-22 is the amount of play in the buttstock. It is just not a tight fit, which causes lots of side to side wiggle. Not that big of a deal, as I was planning on swapping it out with a foliage green MagPul MOE buttstock. However, before ordering my MagPul MOE buttstock, I wanted to make sure it had a good tight fit. Could someone fill me in on how theirs is?

The MOE buttstock will generally wiggle a bit on the 15-22. There are a couple of options you can do.

1) Electrical tape on the sides of the buffer tube tightened my stock right up, and works just fine for me.

2) If you don't mind spending $40 more, Magpul makes the CTR buttstock, which is the same as the MOE except it has a "friction lock" on it which tightens the stock on the tube.

This is the main reason why I went for the CTR stock on an A1 rather than getting the MOE 15-22.

Mil-spec CTR is nice and tight - no complaints here.

My MAGPUL MOE butt stock is a tight fit, no wiggles. It's a MAGPUL MOE, not MAGPUL P.T.S.

MAGPUL P.T.S. looks just like the regular MAGPUL line, but is meant for airsoft training. MAGPUL P.T.S. is much cheaper than regular MAGPUL gear.

I upgraded mine with the MOE Magpul CTR stock, non-friction, and it fits tighter than the stock that came with the M&P. There is a little wiggle, it's by design. Like the other members stated, electrical tape or teflon tape on the side will lesson it a tad. Welcome on board the M&P train..

As mentioned, if you want to completely eliminate wiggle, you'll have to step up to the CTR. The MOE has a pretty good fit to the 15-22 fake receiver extension, but still has a little play.

I appreciate everyones input. The CTR stock sounds like what I'm looking for. In the meantime, I'll try using electrical tape with the current buttstock.

The MOE stocks wiggle more when fully extended. There nice and tight on the M&P 15-22 when collapsed more than half. I like mine extended so I chose the CTR. The QD socket is a bonus.

sloppy fit
