I just put on a MOE grip and there is a gap between the receiver and the plastic part that wraps between your thumb and forefinger. Is this a fluke or are the 15-22 receivers shaped slightly different in that area? Its pretty noticeable with OD green. Drat!

Tim, the 15/22 has a different radius so they don't fit like they do on there bigger brother.I found out the same way you did.:(

My factory 15/22 in MOE FDE also has this gap. The MOE grip is built to fit the standard AR platform. Remember the 15-22 was built from the ground up to function and resemble a larger caliber AR - but it is not identical to the standard platform specs. There are slight variations, this being one of them.

FWIW, I had long forgotten about the gap in mine until I read your post. The 15-22 is an absolute blast and I have so much fun every time i run mine that I don't even notice it anymore. Keep shooting it and I think you will too.

IIRC you can use the wedge they designed to fill that gap on 7.62 platforms on your 15-22.

If you really wanted to.

KBK

I think there might be some filing that needs to be done but I've seen several people with the wedge in there. I personally don't mind the gap there.

That's why I prefer a Hogue pistol grip - no gap to deal with. :)

It looks like the MOE K will work. I wnt to stay with Magpul so all my OD green matches. Has anyone used the K grip?

Just wondering. Does polymer have a "melting/soft" point where you could heat it up (OFF the lower) with a "blowtorch" and form fit it with a glove (to protect your hand from the heat) and make it fit ? Like Plexiglas works ??

Interesting question, since the outer part of the grip is moulded over a hard inner core and isn't all that thick.

Try the K grip before you buy it. It's different.

I went with a comfortable grip that had the right angle and fit my hand. If you go with what looks best, there's a good chance you will buy twice if the rifle gets used. I have a box full of old parts to prove it. :)

They are called possums here too, but I believe the correct spelling starts with an "o".

Yes, Opossum is the correct spelling but it's been years since I have seen anyone spell it that way - certainly not Down South! :)
