True story, during the war my dad's family lived in rural Oklahoma. Grandpa fed the family with what he shot or grew in the garden. "Possum" and sweet potatoes was one of the dishes grandma made. Dad said she cooked the animal with sweet potatoes to soak up the greasy taste. I've shot and ate a lot of squirrel growing up, but I've never been hungry enough to even consider possum. Dad doesn't seem to crave them too much these days either.
