I have ordered several mags for my 1076 and am pleased with rapid delivery and the fact they are S&W issue magazines. Not cheap, but if you need them...you need them.

Order from: Joe's Pawn Shop

Phone: 256-894-9994 Albertville, AL

ps; Would never expect to find the mags in a pawn shop but they seem to have plenty.

Wow, they still have a stash. I ordered some from them years and years ago.

I saw some of his listings on gunbroker and eBay. You're right about the expensive part. If you're patient, and Lord knows I'm not, you can sift through listings and find individuals selling them for a little less. Also, midway is accepting backorders for them....but there again is that patience thing.

Just curious, how many mags do you guys consider adequate per pistol? Say I like 6-10. Is that average or excessive?

Depending on the gun and your intended use for it, I'd say that's acceptable. I have two 3913s and a 3914 and probably have 15 magazines between the three. I really have to do an inventory because it seems that every time I open a safe, cabinet, or even draw, I find another one. I even found one in a suitcase I used for an overnight trip. Fortunately, I wasn't flying!

I have 12 mags for my 1076. Do I need that many? Probably not. However,I live in fairbanks Alaska and shoot as much as practible at an outdoor range. My cut-off point is 20 below F. Any colder than that is just too much of a hassle. By having 12 mags I can load them at home and enter the different loads in a spiral pad while drinking coffee and staying warm.
Ps-I degrease the firearm that I plan to shoot and use a lube which is used by the Norwegian military and the U.S. uses on various rotery and Gatling guns. The 1076 does fine in the cold.

I'm perfectly comfortable with 3 mags per pistol. Though, that's not to say I don't have multiple of one model. ;)

It depends on what I use the pistol for. I have 12 mags for the 10xx series pistols but I have a 1006 and a 1086. For a single stack I like 6 or more and double stack guns at least 4.

My Beretta 92, I probally have around 20 mags for. I have a Chiefs Special .40 I am going to try just 2 mags with. And a stack of replacement springs and followers. I know I will never need more then 2 or 1 working mag for how I carry this gun. My other third gens, I have 5 3913 mags and 6 457 mags.

Last time I checked Brownells and Midway were both taking backorders on 10MM mags at around $35 each. Them taking BO's tells me they are expecting another production run sooner or later.

I have 12 or so spare mags for my 5906/5946 and 6 or 7 spare mags for my 6906 and 4 spare mags for my 4566.
I bought all of them used.
Paid 10 bucks/each for the 59/69 series mags.
I also have a Daewoo DP51 that uses 59 series mags. It has one spare factory Daewoo mag.
2 of my 59 series mags are actually new Mec-Gar.
I have more mags for my 59 series and my Makarov than any other pistol I own.
