Trying to change mainspring to Wolff for lighter pull. Couldn't get new spring in and couldn't find any photo or drawing of MIM hammer stirrup. Didn't see a stirrup when I took the sideplate off and it looked like spring would hook directly on the hammer. It does (with great difficulty) but binds on rebound slide during trigger pull.

Finally looked up parts list and found that MIM hammer should have a stirrup attached. Mine must have flown away when taking the old spring out. Called S&W and ordered stirrup and pin. No charge - thank you S&W. Spring should go in much easier with a stirrup to attach it to.

It would be nice if someone had a photo or diagram posted of MIM hammer - mainspring assembly for N-frame.

Don't feel bad. I almost did the same thing myself. In fact, it was just luck that enabled me to see what had happened.

Oh! There is also a spring behind the floating firing pin which can get lost. Don't ask how I found out about that one!
