Here is an opportunity to say thank you to a WWII veteran!!! Thank you in advance.

Please help celebrate our PaPa's birthday and show him some love. It will only take a minute and will make his little day! If all else, please share it on your feed or any pages you can so it gets around [emoji846]

On June 20, 2021, Pat Casey will be spending his 98th Birthday in his assisted living facility with limited visitation. We wanted to do something special for him this year to show him how much he is loved by all. Help us celebrate PaPa's 98th Birthday by sending him a card or letter wishing him Happy Birthday! He is a true hero to all of his friends and family.

Robert Patrick Casey enlisted in the Army Air Corp for pilot training for B-17's after he was told he was too tall to be a Navy fighter pilot. He was a member of the 91st Bomb Group of the 8th Air Force. On November 2, 1944, his 14th mission on his plane "Man'O War II", he was shot down while on a bombing run to destroy the synthetic fuel plant located in Merseburg, Germany. Nine other planes were shot down that day and it became known as the "Merseburg Massacre". He was able to bail out of his crippled plane and was captured in a field, along with the navigator by members of the German Air Force. He was a prisoner of war held at Stalag Luft III until January of 1945 when Stalag Luft III was evacuated and all prisoners were marched for four days to another camp: Stalag 7A in Moosburg, Germany. They were liberated in the spring of 1945 by Patton's troops. He was only 21 years old during this time.

Acco40, I am going to cut-and-paste your post to some of the WW2 aviation Facebook groups I belong to. We should be able to generate a lot of birthday wishes for Mr. Casey... :)
