What are you favorite Multi Caliber 1911 pistols?

I have a Peters Stahl multi caliber that shoots 3 calibers.

Peters Stahl makes about 12 pistols a year. I was fortunate enough to find this beautiful example. New they cost upwards of $4500.+ It is very impressive with its long slide and impeccable finish makes this pistol not just stylish but extremely accurate.

Must be some very serious engineering. All three cartridges would have the ejector in completely different places meaning you can't just change the top end you have to do some work on the bottom as well. But, whatever floats your boat.

I have a custom Colt ORM 1991A1 that started life as a .38 Super, now it has barrels fitted for .38 Super, 9mm, and 9x23 Winchester. The extractor and ejector have been tweaked so that they work with all three cartridges and the gun functions perfectly regardless of which one I'm shooting. All that's required is swapping barrels, bushings, and recoil springs. The Super and 9x23 use the same mags and I run dedicated 9mm mags when shooting it.

Mine is way on the opposite end of the cost spectrum, but still is accurate, reliable and just fun to shoot. A 22TCM/9mm/38 Super from Rock Island Armory. Just swap out the barrels and springs; all three use the the same magazines and extractor.

Posted about the Kimber Stainless Target II over on the 1911 forums. Found out that Kimber only uses one size breechface cut for their 9mm and 10mm guns. Have a 10mm that will now run:

9mm
9x23 Winchester
9mm Largo
.38 Super
.40 S&W
10mm

...then found a complete parts kit minus the frame on ebay for a Stainless Target II .45.

It just needs some minor machining to fit it to the 10mm frame so then it will also be able to run:
.45 ACP
.45 Super

.40 Super and .400 CorBon could also be added.

Also have a .22 Kimber Conversion Unit so it will at this point shoot shoot nine different rounds.





Test firing the .40 S&W, 10mm and .38 Super barrels...




Just got the 9mm barrel in last week. Hopefully the project will be complete by next month..

Clark Custom pistols. The Long Heavy Slide was put together in 1978 and the Model 61-S was done in 1966.

Guncrafter Industries, They make a 50 caliber 1911, in 50GI and you can get a conversion over to 45 auto. I have the Model 3 in 50GI, haven't gotten around to the 45 auto conversion yet.

The KPS was marketed by Springfield Armoury a couple of decades ago in a joint co-operation with Peters-Stahl.

I had a .22 l.r. conversion made by KPS for my SIG P210 that was accurate and worked well but eventually had no more spare parts support.

I have one 1911 that could be considered a conversion, a 1943 steel frame with a Commander top and a .22 l.r. conversion with the floating chamber. Quality and accuracy are not on par with the KPS unit.

HCG in Germany is also making multi-calibre guns based on the 1911 platform.
