I never liked that circular plastic doohickey that is in between the barrel and the front of the quad rail. Look cheesy and plasticky I think. So I just took it out. Now my 15-22 looks like its bigger bro the MP-15T.

Question: both the barrel and the quad rail seem quite firmly attached to the upper.... is it totally OK to use this rifle without the plastic doohickey? (If I didn't describe this well I wil post pics later on)

It doesn't matter, it's just an end-cap. The barrel is free floated whether it's on there or not.
It's mainly there for looks and to keep crap out from underneath the HG.

Seems with all the weight you can hang on all the railestate, the extra support on the end would be a good idea.
