Mandatory Nationwide Gun Registration SB-2099

Hi Guys, need some info/help here.

There is a forwarded E Mail floating around which alleges SB 2099 (Blair/Holt Firearms License and Record of Sale Act) will require all of us to list every gun we own on future income tax returns, pay a $50 fee for each gun, and that this is already law and will apply to 2009 or maybe 2010 tax returns.

I know it sounds crazy and I hope it is.

Anyone else heard of this? Truth? Fiction? Rumor?

The Blair Holt amendment has not received any traction in Congress, but it certainly exists and is likely to come back, again and again, just like every other gun control idea they come up with.

No concerns for now, but keep your radar turned on.

This is another of those stories that makes it's way around the Internet from time to time, and does little more than tie up NRA personnel and various Congressional staffers who have to explain, over and over again, that no, the sky is not falling.

I really wish people would think before they forward stuff like this. It takes only a minute or two to check Snopes or the NRA to see if something like this is true before sending it out to all one's friends.
