Today is the 80th Anniversary of the Invasion of Iwo Jima.

The bottle of Iwo sand was given to me by a young S/Sgt who was the driver/bodyguard for the Commandant, during a visit there several years ago.

A little history about a name most of us know about.

From a Wiki page "about the Jack First story":

"After serving in World War II, including fighting on Iwo Jima, Jack First, like many returning G.I.s, entered the sporting market, identifying a need for quicker customer service in supplying parts to gunsmiths.

Jack started a gun shop in Lancaster, CA in 1956, and later moved it to Rapid City, SD in 1994, becoming known for supplying hard-to-find and obsolete gun parts to gunsmiths worldwide."

I remember his gun store on Sierra Highway in Lancaster, California and the basement gun range.
I was too young to be there alone but I think I was infected with some kind of gun virus while there.

The store is still there, along with the range, but under a different name.

No sir, I just checked it and it is flat cloth.
