Markings: 627 Performance Center

Just picked up a "new to me" 627 Performance Center. Gentleman is a board member here, but didn't know until I met with him FTF. Great transaction, smooth deal...and an overall good dude to talk guns with...Anyway, I'm curious about the markings that are on the crane (?). They don't match the serial number, which I've noticed on my 625 as well. I'm wondering if anyone has any idea what these numbers represent? Is it an internal numbering system for cylinders? I would think that they'd be numbered by model, which is why I scratch my head at this. Here's what I'm talking about:

I have the same type of numbering on my S&W 686 + Talo. The only thing I can think of is that it could be a number referring to that production run.
