Marlin 1894 In 32-20

This is a for sale locally said to be in good operating condition no cracks in wood bluing has turned to brown no pitting good bore. These are the pictures I have at the moment $500 is as low as he will go it is a hour and a half away. I have four S&W in this caliber and am set up to reload. I would like to have it if the price is not out of line. I checked Gunbroker completed sales all sold higher but were octagon barrels this one was made in the 1940s and has a round barrel. I do have one in 357 magnum, but I am not up to date on the prices of these.

I think that is a good price, if the bore is good. Go for it.

The new model Marlin CB models can't be found for less than $750 and the one you are looking is the real deal.
If it functions and has a decent bore, that is a very good price. Looks to have the potential to be a good shooter. I would expect it to be listed for $800-1000 around here. If it was a 1 1/2 hour drive from me I'd be on my way right now!

I have its older brother, a Model 1889 in that caliber. Same here. I reload for it since I have numerous Smiths and 3 first gen Colt singles that shoot it. I think that's a fair price. I gave $400 for mine from an estate nearly 20 years ago.

I would buy it in a heart beat. I have a Model 1894 and love it, but its not my favorite. That designation goes to my 1889 in 38-40. It was my Dads, and comes out once a year for a nostalgic fall walk in the deer woods.

Ok just got back from picking up the rifle I did make one mistake it is a octagon barrel. Took a few shots at 25 yards one flyer (shooter error) looks very promising. Here are a few quick photos I am very pleased to report it functions perfect. The serial number is D84xx he said it dates to around 1947, but I am still trying to verify that. Thank's for y'alls help.

Sweet! Heck of a deal I'd say. I have a 2005 (JM) 1894 in 32-20 that is a blast to plink with. If you are a reloader, you're going to love it. Congratulations!

That is a great buy Randy. I too have 4 32-20 revolvers; 3 S&W hand ejectors and a Uberti SA clone. My long guns include a 1892 Winchester rifle and a Stevens 44 single shot. And yes, I reload and cast my own bullets. What I save in ammo costs lets me buy more of the same.
Don't know why, but there is just something about the old 32-20 cartridge that make me happy. I think you know what I mean!

I'm the misfit! I only have 2 revolvers, a S&W Model 1902 from 1902 and a Colt Police Positive Special from 1919. I have a Marlin 1894 CL from the 1980's and love the all! I keep all ammo with lead/cast bullets for the hand guns, The rifle eats that and I loaded High Velocity ammo with XTP Jacketed bullets, but for rifle use only!!!

My bullet mold is a gas Checked version of the tried & true Ideal/Lyman 3118. With a gas check they weigh 117 grains. A 1/8" hollow pointing tool takes them down to 100 grains for varmint use. The Trail Boss, Unique, and WW231 loads all work well in the revolvers, and never saw ammo that fit, not do well in the rifle!

Ivan, I have an 1894 CL in .32/20, and the blamed thing won't feed from the magazine. I saw a post on another forum about a simple fix if the gun was new, it said it was more complex if the rifle had been used a bit. Did yours feed OK from the get go, or did you have to do some work on it?

I've got a nice 1894 from turn of century with octagonal barrel. Not a creame puff but in very good shape and good shooter. I wouldn't hesitate to buy good solid gun with good bore at $500. I can get $1K+ out of mine any day of week.

The bore on this one is shiney with some minor pitting strong lands, and grooves.

I picked up this refinished 1894 at the Tulsa Wanenmacher show last April. oldguns.net says it was made 1899. Still haven't shot it....

I recently picked up an 1894 serial # 521 in 44-40 with an octagon barrel . It's in very good condition but I paid a lot more than $500 . I reload that caliber but haven't gotten a chance to shoot this one yet . Regards, Paul
