I've seen several posts here and on other boards, where someone called someone else a "maroon." I thought they were misspelling "moron". But since I am in no position to criticize any ones spelling I didn't spend much time worrying about it.

But today I heard a talk show host on the radio end his description of a public figure by saying "What a maroon."

I've always thought "maroon" was a color. Sort of a dark purplish red. Has a new definition been developed? Or am I a maroon?

I believe Mel Blanc, The Man of a Thousand Voices, used to use the term "maroon" when giving voice to Bugs Bunny. At least, that's where I remember it from. So its nothing new.:D:cool:

Credit Bug's Bunny

The beloved rabbit of our childhood whose writers could and would often inject adult influenced humor first coined the term "What a Maroon" when dealing with an obvious moron. I know, I have waaaay too much time on my hands.

Those cartoons worked on at least two levels. While an adult could bring a kid to see the cartoons because the kid would enjoy them, it was equally true that the adult would enjoy them. Only, they'd each be laughing at a different joke at the same time.

My kids loved them and my son watches them with his son now. My son hates most of the kids stuff on TV these days because he thinks it instills the wrong values in kids.

My son was and is hypercompetitive. He was that way in sports when he was a kid and he is now in business. Tell him something can't be done and then stand back and watch him do it.

He was the only kid that kept score when he played T ball.

In junior high school I knew a kid that was not allowed to cuss. This was a tough life's choice at Pacoima Junior High in the barrio. Its where Ritchie Valens went. (La Bamba fame)
He got so mad at me one day he called me an asinine. Hell, I had to go look that up. He got me in more ways than one. Guess I'm a maroon too.

Actually, I'm no Texas Ex, but I am a Horn fan. A couple of my best friends are ags thru and thru. I just can't cut them any slack.

Actually, I are an Aggie and I thought this was an Aggie joke thread. I'm disappointed.
