Maryland was a May issue state until a couple of weeks after Bruen, when the outgoing governor, Larry Hogan, issued an order directing the state police to follow Bruen. (The incoming governor has pledged to reverse Hogan's order.

I work "part time" at the gun counter in the Bass Pro Shops in Hanover, MD. Sunday mornings most of the year, But holiday season is full time plus. Since Sunday a week plus ago my only day off was Saturday, when I was able to go deer hunting with my son before he flew back to college.

Since the Bruen decision gun sales, particularly handgun sales, have been off the charts. I worked 14 hours Black Friday, taking gun customers out of line to do paperwork starting at 4:00am. There was the same backlog of customers when I left at 6:15pm as when the doors opened at 6:00.

Let's hope some of our new handgun owners appreciate their 2A rights and vote like it.

I wouldn't worry about Moore coming in and changing anything about the decision. MD is a case-law state, and as such the Bruen decision from the Supreme court is a non-negotiable thing, and must be written into COMAR. Hogan making that executive order did two things for him.

1. Gives MD lawmakers time to draft the necessary legislative documents to write the decision into COMAR, while also making the decision effective immediately in MD.
2. Makes him look good as he exits, knowing that regardless of their opinions it wouldn't effect his campaign. Makes him look more Republican that RINO.

Honestly though, expect to see a much harder process to acquire your MD Wear and Carry. Talking to State Police about it they are already planning to increase the class from 16 hours to 40 hours. Also talking about increasing the 8 hour requalification hours to 16-24.

MD is still going to do everything in their power to ensure they violate your 2A rights, so watch yourself out there!

How exactly does new governor intend to reverse an order that follows a SCOTUS decision? Should be interesting. Maybe he'll confer with NY governor

She seems to think she can do whatever she wants, much like the previous governor. I sure hope after the 15th-20th time they tell her she can't overturn the decision she listens.

All the impediments the governor of NY put in place to make it harder to obtain a permit are dropping one by one. So are the restrictions as to where you can carry. It's fun to watch but disgusting at the same time. Why do they think they have the right to control every aspect of your life??????????

I recently relocated from Marylandstan to Free America. The Maryland General Assembly will do everything they can to restrict your rights...raise your taxes...and pee on your leg and tell you it's raining.

Regardless of the Bruen decision and the Governor instructing the State Police to eliminate the "Good & Substantial" part of the law in deciding permits...the General Assembly will fight that until the Supreme Court slaps them silly and even then they'll ignore it.

Maryland is not a state friendly to the Constitution...except when it suits the political goals of the powers that be.

I lived in Maryland for a number of years for work. Maryland
sucks just like New York, etc. I left 20 years ago. Refused to
give them more of my money to restrict my freedom. Get out
of those liberal states! You can do it.

Could use a little more explaining?????

What are you looking for as far as additional explanation? Happy to provide more, but the gist is an almost blue state's RINO governor, perhaps mindful of his future political ambitions, orders the State Police to abide by Bruen.

In the very "liberal" state, all handgun sales are off the chart, especially the better carry options. Applications for MD Handgun Licenses (often called "wear and carry" licenses) are also off the charts…
