Beware, apparently some distributors are overstocked on the Massachusetts approved Shields and sending them out in lieu of the standard Shield, #180021. One of my retired LE buddies called me last week to report(brag) that he bagged a 9mm Shield at his local Academy store as they were unpacking it. I rejoiced at his find as I am a FFL holder and have only been able to acquire 5 Shields since their introduction 04/12/12. Three of these were from other dealers. Yesterday he called to report that a local range/store had called to advise him that his Shield had come in. He went to fetch it and bought some extra mags as well. It seems the 2nd gun turned out to be one of the Massachusetts guns, #180051, with a 10+ # trigger pull. He called S&W for assistance and was told that they don't modify Massachusetts guns to standard specs. He's hoping the store will refund his $. Just a word to the wise, if you want a #180021, check the box to make sure. Bob!

Mass. Shield in Louisana

That is so weird to hear. South of Boston we can't get any anywhere. At least as of 2 weeks ago.

Not surprising. They are so hard to find, they'll take anything they can get as long as it can be legally sold in that state. My M&P40c with the mag safety was sold in Ga where it's not required by law. GARY

I spoke with a rep at S&W last week. Right now they are expecting a 4-5 month minimum wait.

Would an APEX trigger fix the #10 pull, or is that a different mod?
