Math Question

All this math talk gave me a headache.

I’d just aim lower and be done with it.

Simple.
Free.

Done.

Just let that critter walk another75 yards farther away from you, and you
will be, just hunky doory, with bullet placement.
 
To get back to the original question. To lower the point of impact a taller front sight is needed. Skinners web sight is very helpful. Marbles web site also has helpful info for this.
About Rossi rifles. They cut their dovetail slightly larger than the standard 3/8. I have not had trouble with front sights on my Rossi but many do. Rear dovetails I always find them big. A triangular needle file and some filing is almost always necessary for correct fitting. Take your time. Also Rossi dovetails are very shallow and the barrel metal "soft". Do it right the first time. Oh file the sight NOT the cut dovetail.
 
Hey! I think I just figured that one out 2.5 + 2.5=5

Actually, 2.5 + 2.5 = 6

Why, you may ask? Because rounding 2.5 makes it 3

On the other hand, 2.3 when rounded still = 2. therefore, 2.3 + 2.3 = 4.6, when rounded = 5

Math is hard - even when it is easy.

One could say that trigonometry is the subset of geometry which is specific to the measurement of triangles. Absolutely true and if you then add algebra and calculus to the "equations" life is easy going forward. I was lucky enough to grow up in the UK during the 11 plus days of yore (1950) and was introduced to calculus at 12. Made the later thermodynamics courses in the 6th Form relatively easy to comprehend, thus leading to a love of biological chemistry in future years. Dave_n
 
I was fortunate long ago when I was in High School to have a retired Civil Engineer as a math instructor. He was very good at teaching trig, and would take the class out to do simple land surveying exercises on the football field using a transit. That's where most of the class learned the utility of trig.
