mauser HSc ?

I seem to remember that between 1941-1945 mauser produced the HSc (other years also). they were distributed for Army, Navy, Police, commercial (civilian). There were markings behind trigger on top of frame indicating which of the catagories the pistol was intended for. Eagle, 655, WaW were som e of the markings. But I can't find anywhere that discusses which marking went to which catagories.

Can anyone help?

I was very interested in HSc’s some time ago. I still have a really nice early Commercial example.

By memory, (such as it is).

Eagle N = Commercial
Eagle 655 Early Army
Eagle 135 Later Army
Eagle M Kriegsmarine
Eagle L Police

Military and National Police always have an eagle of a distinct style with a swastika under it. The lesser branch's eagles are almost stick figures. Then there is a letter code. This tells you: Local cops, National Police, Gestapo, camp guards, and a few more. Those acceptance marks should be the same as the Walther PP & PPK guns, The production codes will be totally different almost every month of production!

I had an early brown SA holster for a HSc, but never had the pistol. It was in excellent condition, and I sold it for $200 in 1985 at an OGCA show. The buyer was extremely pleased with the price!

I never knew that HSc’s had other codes. I also never knew that any specialty coded HSc’s were issued to other groups and so marked. Collecting PP’s and PPK’s of course I was aware of all the different letter codes. Railroad, Post Office and all to the really snastie branches. I’ll bet some HSc’s went to the Luftwaffe but have never seen a special letter code for them if there was.

I thought I had researched HSc’s but I guess not enough.
