Our town has its Memorial Day parade each year on May 30, the traditional Memorial Day. Our Sons of the American Legion Squadron will be one of the units. Since I can't march in the parade anymore, I'll be one of the drivers of the trucks that will carry town officials and then I get to represent the Sons on the podium for the speeches. I have become the public relations officer of our squadron so I look forward to doing this each year.

I get mad when younger people have no idea at all what Memorial Day is about! They think it's about a day off and sales at the stores. Many are clueless that many many American Soldiers gave their limbs, eyes, and life so they can be careless, irresponsible citizens lining off of others.

Men & Women who have and do serve are a special breed - Happy Memorial Day to them!

I rode in the local "Rolling Thunder" motorcycle rally yesterday.

The ride ended at the state capital. I was disappointed to see that not a single politician was onsite, they all knew about the rally but none could be bothered to attend.

Long story short, Rolling Thunder is a group trying to get all the MIA/KIA people home to their families. They used to have rallies in DC but the financial cost was too high, they now have local rallies across the country, on memorial day weekend.

Our town had the Memorial Day parade through town today. We had the honor guard from the American Legion, some members of the Sons of American Legion, 3 trucks carrying various officials of the American Legion and its affiliates, and the high school band. I drove one of the trucks that carried one of the officers from the local American Legion post, who gave the prayers at the service in the cemetery. During the ceremony, a young fellow from the Scouts told the story of the history of Memorial Day. It was good to hear our veterans being thanked by the town residents who came out to watch the parade. And for the size of our town, we had a large group celebrating at the cemetery service to give thanks for the service of our veterans.
