MAYBE I DO HAVE A PROBLEM?

Any 12 step programs for pack rats? I got a good pile going of just reloading stuff I don't need or use for guns/calibers I no longer have, or anticipate buying. NOT TO MENTION every little do-dad, do-hickey I couldn't live without for hunting/fishing/camping. If anything worth doing is worth over doing, I succeded! Enough of everything for 2-3 people & I don't know how to post pics. To top it off my gun club quit doing the 10$/table swap meets that were SO MUCH BETTER than the 100$/table GUN SHOWS.

Take a breath,step away from it a bit, because you do not have a problem! I have found long ago if you get rid of something, say a unneeded set of dies you will find a smoking deal on something that is the caliber of the die set you just sold. Keep it, sooner or later you or family and friends will have a need. Take it from me "the ultimate hoarder" stand fast.

I definitely have a problem. Since the wife passed my house has taken on the look of something from "Hoarders."

I'm working on it though. Just last week I finally threw out a wetsuit I got in 1978.

My wife and I are exact opposites...I've learned the hard way not to call her a hoarder, but she is. She even has her papers from kindergarten! She has everything she has ever owned. She is very frugal, I have to give her that, but a clearance rack to her is like heroin to a junkie. She will buy anything on clearance, even if she doesn't know what it is! I on the other hand keep virtually nothing. If I can't immediately use it, I usually don't keep it. I do have some sentimental things, of course...I'm talking about the day to day things.

ASIDE FROM SHRINKING....

I'm working on it though. Just last week I finally threw out a wetsuit I got in 1978.

The 2 pairs of neoprene stocking foot waders/jacket/ice cleats for steelhead fishing & XXX COLD duck/goose hunting, 2 Filson double mackinaw coats & bibs, -30 degree down sleeping bag, etc. etc. hasn't come in too handy here in Fl. BUT 5 MINUTES AFTER selling it for penny's on the $ or giving it away, you need it like your life depended on it.

I did ruthless and brutal cleaning out in anticipation of 'downsizing' one day. This week my wife asked me where a movie was. I said, "I KNOW I didn't throw that one out." But maybe I did.

One answer is to move to apartment. After I sold a few things, gave away a lot of things and just left a lot of things in the house, garage and shop, I am no longer over-burdened. Danged if I didn't have buy some things that I screwed up and got rid of.

I probably have well over 100 pounds of commercial, home recorded and blank VHS tapes. Can't bring myself to toss 'em for exactly that reason.

I call the ritual cleaning the Daddy Dooche.
Been slowly weeding out my own stuff because the breadbox sized space in the house I can claim as my own is not enough. Now her stuff is finding it's way into my outdoor shed. My defense is cracking the jug of 50:1 two cycle so on the off chance she should collect her "extras" they will stink like fuel and get tossed.


I'm considering a 2 yd. Dipsy. Any larger I'll lose all semblance of restraint.

Tell ya what... how about I load a pickup truck with stuff, and you load a pickup truck with stuff, and we meet at a halfway point? We trade our stuff so we both have new stuff!!!

Not hoarding, just horse trading. Be kinda fun wondering what to do with all the new stuff, too!

Sounds like progress to me.

My loading room in the farm house was 12'x15'. I had 17' of loading bench with 2 progressive, 2 Rock-Chucker, a T-7, and 2 bullet sizing presses mounted on them! Now I have 2 filing cabinets, 5' of bench and a stack and a half of shelves in the laundry room of the condo.

I sold, gave away and abandoned a little bit of stuff. I make use of workmates for temporary benches. I still load all my ammo, and added 2 shotgun loaders to the 5 I already had. I still have over 100 die sets (I load 117 cartridges!) My stockpile of loaded shotgun shells is down from 60 cases to about 25. My stockpile of loaded rifle and pistol ammo is still about 30 ammo cans (mostly 50 cal.)

I have to do a major clean up every six months, or I will never find anything! I can only have 2 good sized projects going at once (instead of 4 or 5), so now I have to complete projects in a timely manner.

I think I'm ahead in this game!
