Truly unfired? No turn lines? Not saying it doesn't happen but most of the truly unfired (outside of the factory) guns I've seen have the rest of the package. Probably some folks pulled the guns from the package, threw away the box/papers/tools, added non-factory stocks and then put the gun in a soft case never to see the light of day again. . . . .but how many? Not very many in my experience. I'd try to buy each in the $1000 range, probably pay a bit more if I had to. Fine guns, whatever you have to pay.

Two grand for the pair would be a deal if they are unfired outside of the factory and are original finish with no damage. All were fired by the factory.

That would be a deal if really unfired since the factory. I was thinking $3,000 for the pair would still be a deal. Maybe a little less for the 5" one having replacement stocks.

I also go with $1500 each if they are unfired except for the factory test rounds. Those are the 2 most looked for barrel lengths. Maybe a little less on the 5" gun since it has aftermarket stocks on it instead of the factory targets. But if unfired, the 5" gun is still a good one at $1400 without the factory targets. If the seller also has the factory targets for the 5" still, I would go with $1500 and the factory targets and he can either give those aftermarket stocks along with the gun or keep them, but I personally wouldn't give him more for the aftermarket stocks plus the factory targets.

Nice guns and 2K would be a good price.

I don't think the 3-1/2" has the original stocks either. That gun has a standard trigger and hammer. In the mid-70's, S&W made the target trigger, hammer and stocks standard and included the presentation case. That's obviously an earlier gun and probably came in a blue box with Magna stocks.

I was giving the benefit of the doubt on the Target Stocks on the blued M27 since they were an option and thus the gun could have been ordered with them installed.

Depending on the year it shipped, they should at least be "correct" and may well be original. Only a factory letter could give conclusive evidence to the contrary.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it. :)

I recall seeing new 27-2's in 3 1/2" with target stocks. But since apparently these guns are together and the grips on the nickel are definitely not factory, I suspect the blue gun grips were not on the gun when purchased. Thinking 2K for the pair is fair regardless of being fired or not in or out of the factory, because you will surely never know.

In my neck of the woods (Southern New England) the blued would go for a tad more.....so $1200 for the blued and $1000 for the nickel.

The 27 on the right appears to have Fuzzy Farrant grips that required a modified frame. I shot one years ago and it was perfect for my hands, although it could increase or decrease the value, depending on personal preference.

There's a couple people on this forum that will say you can still get an N-frame for $250, LOL

Realistically a LOT more. I paid $1200 for my 27-2, but it came with a presentation case and is a 5" which is a little harder to find I hear.

Good luck!

The shape is similar, but those are older Eagle rosewood combat grips with their optional "engraving". I think they were made in India. They extend a fair amount below the butt and don't require a cut frame.

Farrant grips are very collectible and can bring hundreds of dollars. These Eagle's can often be found for $50 or less.
