After months of shooting I'm to the point now of just being able to pick it up off hand and hit whatever target out to 40 yds.
It seems to really like the 200 gr. bullets especially the Hornady 200 gr. XTP with my 11.5 gr. of Unique which is my SD carry load when out in the woods.
This is one fine shooter now!

Traditionalists don't believe me but I have had the brother to your 69 and it will hold it's own against my Pre 29 accuracy wise. Not as comfortable to shoot as long as the 29 but the first 25-30 are all good to go.

Enjoy!

I really enjoy the model 69 with the 4" barrel. I shoot mostly special loads or in between special and magnum reloads. In my opinion S&W got this one right.

Forty yards or so (maybe you'll keep going to fifty :)) seems like a pretty good piece for a gun like that one. Good for you! Are you still using the stocks shown on the gun in your photo?

I have been trying to get the nerve to buy one of those but every time I look at them the lack of the front lock makes me shy away. From the results posted on this forum, I can see that those guns shoot well enough, but the locking mechanism they use on the short-barreled model looks like a better system to me. I wonder why they don't use it on the 4-inch gun, too?

Anyway, nice photo and thanks for your report. 200s in a gun like that doesn't sound like a bad idea. Probably takes a lot of bite out of the recoil.

Still using the factory grips although I did borrow the SW 500 grips of off my 629-2 just to see how they felt.
The grip type can change how you shoot the revolver so I'm keeping the factory grips on.
A 200 gr. Magnum load is nice shooting in this gun and I also have my plinking or all around use SWC/GC 230 gr loads which work well with 9-9.5 of Unique which were in the picture.
My other just grab and shoot gun is my Ruger 1911 Cmd. .45 ACP. But I definitely can't leave out the big boy Ruger SBH .44 Mag with 7.5 barrel but that is a much larger revolver.

A few years ago I ended up with a few boxes of aluminum-case Blazer 200 grain JHPs, as a result of a trade deal. I didn't pay any attention to the ammo for a while, but when I tried it I was surprised. I don't think I've had more accurate 44 Magnum ammo. I did not chronograph it, but it was very pleasant to shoot, even in a 4-inch gun. Until then, I'd never given the Blazer ammunition line a second thought.

I like your 69 and I posted that I too am a new owner of that same gun. I was debating which one I wanted but had the opportunity to get the 4.25" one for a used but never fired price that was too good to pass up.

After several range times and experimenting with loads, I had her shooting great for me.

I took mine whitetail hunting with me and when a doe presented a shot of 38 yards, I let the new 69 do her thing, putting the big doe down right there.

I have been impressed with the comfort of the 69 and as for accuracy, I think I'm better with it than my longer barreled 29's.

Long story short, I love mine too. It'll be a hunting, woods stomping companion (although I will get the shorter 69 undoubtedly also)

I'm going to try your 11 grain Unique load in the future. I also want try a load I have for another 44 ... 20 grains 2400. Both under 200XTP.

So far my M69 has been a wonderful shooter.

I love my model 69, and shoot it as often as I can. Only Magnums I have blasted are Freedom Munitions loaded 230 grain XTP, and Federal Hydra Shok 240 grain, and she has no problems with those.
