Memory is strange. Happenings, that I've long forgotten, for no apparent reason, will be, suddenly, and vividly remembered, of incidents that happened in my early childhood, when I was 2, or 3, years old., and I sometimes can't remember correctly, what happened an hour ago.

Does this ever happen to any of you, my fellow members of this forum?

Jeez, glad this got brought up. I was at a hamburger joint and it had a live band playing. The lead singer said that whoever identifies the band that sang the song they were gonna sing next would get a free beer. Within 15 seconds of the song, I remembered, walked up to the stage and my answer was correct!!
It didn't help when I wandered the parking lot trying to remember where my wife parked the car.
The song name is (the breakup song), quick without using google who sang it??

Happens all the time lol. I just remembered rummaging around in the woodshed for some kindling to use in the kitchen stove at a friends house. I was maybe 5 so that was 60yrs ago
(I was used to a modern kitchen and thought that cooking on a wood stove was just the coolest thing)

I was in Walmart a while ago and while checking out, the male checker
asked I found everything I wanted. I said well I was kinda looking for
that stuff that is supposed to improve your memory.

He said Oh, we have some of that. It's back in the vitamin section, and
it works really well.

I asked what is it called? He answered, I can't remember.

I burst into the kitchen and shouted at my wife, "Honey! Whatever you do, do NOT let them take your temperature on your forehead when you go into the supermarket!! It erases your memory!! I went in for bread and milk like you asked..."
"...and came out with two cases of beer!!!"

Short term memory lose is caused by a electrical charge that surrounds door frames. Example - you think of something you need, and go into the next room to do it, but as you cross the frame, the electrical charge erases the memory. Often when you can't remember why you went into the room, reversing course will replace the memory. It gets worse with age. I have far too many door frames in my house.

A while back my Doc asked me if I knew who the President is, what
political party he belongs to, and who the vice president is. I responded
correctly. Then I asked him if I got them right. He said I just wanted
to see if you could remember the order I asked the questions in.

Since I have retired a year ago, if someone asks me what day it is, if it isn't Sunday, I generally have no clue. I retired from education and have had many students as a teacher and administrator and now I see them and know I should know their names but.... luckily my wife was around and she helps me out. She and I take turns remembering things from our 48 years of marriage. We will be in trouble when we both start forgetting the same things.
