Just received and installed Mesquite grips on MODEL 57-1 that I carry on the ranch. The grips that came on the gun were some the most beautiful Goncalvo Alves that I have owned after collecting S&W N and K frames for 45 years. So I have put them in the safe to preserve. I bought these mesquite grips from TOROFLOW 1 on the Forum last week ( THANK YOU). I cut a large mesquite tree on the my ranch 2 years ago . I aged it for 1 year and then sent it to the Culinas to make 2 pair for my other N frames. John said he wanted to give the wood another year to cure. Hoping they can get those made by Christmas.
Here is picture of the grips from LONE STAR GRIPS.

I've wondered if grips could be made from Australian Pine (In Hawaii the Common IronWood) or Casuarina equisetifolia, or does it just crack too much?
