I have a model 60 no dash. Marked NY-1. Where can I find mfg date? Has a 4 digit serial number..
Thanks

Welcome to the Forum.
The exact shipping date can only be gotten with a factory letter.
If you give us the serial number, from the bottom of the butt, we can tell you the year the Catalog says it was manufactured.

By the serial number it should be about 1987. Are you sure it's a no dash?

That sounds right to me. I used to have a no-dash M60 with an AHJ s/n that I figgered was made about 1985.
The standard M60 was superceded by the 60-3 in 1988 per SCSW. The 60-1 was a 3" HB and the 60-2 was a DAO, looks like both were made concurrently with the no-dash.

An NY-1 model 60? Hmm, If I remember correctly, no, the NYPD did noy keep them very long. Don't recall the whole story, but they were not happy with a group of model 60's and I think model 64's. Some went back to S&W. Some might not have even made it to the NYPD before they said "no mas". Someone else may be able to spread a little more light on the story. OR, I may be wrong. Anyway, cool.

SCSW says
jan 1985 AHA 0667
July 1985 AHS-AHT
but also says Jan 1986 AHC 1687
Like I just posted on an other thread, I don't believe we can extraoplate sequences not shown with any hope of accuracy. A DAH s/n 442-2 I used to own was produced in 2006, per box & fired case envelope labels. I recently bought a 442-2 with a CTY s/n, per label info it was produced in march of this year. I would have extrapolated this CTY gun at late 2004 from SCSW if I hadn't seen the 2013 date on the box & envelope.
