The city of Miami Beach, Florida has declared an emergency with an 8:00pm curfew in the South beach area. The problem is that they have been overrun by Spring Breakers. According to the mayor, massive crowds of young people have overwhelmed the city. Its shoulder to shoulder in the popular tourist areas and traffic can't move.

After the last year I can certainly understand these folks wanting to blow off some steam, but I worry about a huge Covid spike. Remember what happened last year?

But those stupid prizes get spread to a lot of innocent people back at home. Our Minister had a niece that brought the prize home and spread it to her father and grandmother. They both died within a month..

Acknowledged. IMO, we're nowhere near out of the pandemic - but unless you want draconian measures, there will be unintended yet stupid consequences. All I know is, I ain't doing spring break.

This virus keeps on mutating itself to stay alive and we have to play catch-up to make sure that the vaccines are effective on the new strains. Where are these young peoples parents? They are also responsible when another spike occurs if they can't control their kids actions. These irresponsible activities will prolong the pandemic for another year.

Pretty sure these are college kids - 18+. Nobody said being 18 magically confers maturity.

A few years ago a group of young people declared Miami Beach as "their" spring break location. Most of the attendees live within a hundred miles of Miami Beach and a large percentage of them do not attend college. That limits the spread of covid.

Lets see, Miami Beach, nice weather, spring break, everyone coming off a year of lock downs....... Who would have expected a crowd of young people wanting to let loose and party?...

As far as possibly spreading Covid, expecting 100% of the people to do something requiring common sense, in any situation, is about like herding cats. If 50% represents "average intelligence", then 49% of the population is below average.

IMHO we will never be out of the china virus pandemic. Isn't there already new stronger strains of it?

Bike week was March 4th thru the 13th. I don't watch the news, how many thousands have died from that? I live in the area, and there was no shortage of people.
