This morning, on a local show, the host, Michael Putney, had the Miami police chief on the show to discuss how "Assault Weapons" are the reason some people got killed a week or so ago. First, as I understand "AK 47s" these are fully automatic and are not easy to possess. Second, according to the news accounts I have seen, there was a party in a high crime area, going on into the early hours of the morning. There were several hundred people there. But the Miami Police Department did not have a presence or even, as far as I know, did not even check the scene out. Some guys came by with one "assault rifle" and several pistols or other handguns and shot the place up. Now the police chief is on the warpath, not against the perpetrators, but against the guns which sound perfectly legal when in the hands of law abiding citizens.

Even worse, the moderator said that he had contacted the NRA to provide another side tothe discussion, and they declined as did Marian Hammer of Florida Sportsman. I am shocked. I tried to call in but got a busy signal. The one person who did get in was well intentioned but not versed in this sort of argument.

So,
You start out with a subject like the progressive's writing, producing, filming, directing, editing as well as starring in a story turning the subject of likely stolen, even more likely illegally modified weapons into "assault weapons" which go on to shoot up what I'm just certain was an ice cream social.
What part of this in a 2009' news story comes as a surprise?

Unified Sportsmen of Florida does not care

I was still upset this morning so I called Unified Sportsmen of Florida. I told them about the Putney show with Chief Timony slamming the right to own semi autos. The response I got was to the effect that there was no point debating the issue. I believe that there always has to be some response. But, there it is. Our supposed representative organizations do not think it is worth debating the rabid anti gunners (Timony) and their willing media accomplices (Putney). OK
