Been wanting some more grips for my six inch no dash 586 for years. The factory target stocks are too big and blocky for me. It currently wears Uncle Mike's tires, but I want something nicer. I was thinking of some pau ferro Miculeks. Miculeks feel good and functional to me. I'm hoping the hardwood will look ok on my blue revolver. Any thoughts?

Never mind. The ones I found are round butt, not square. Maybe I should just order some Herretts.

Dillon Precison sells Miculeks for both round and square butt guns

I have a set of Altamonts on my 586.
The grooves make them fit perfect in my hand and they are much nicer to look at than rubber.

You can buy them directly from Altamont with the S&W medallions installed for just over $70 shipped to your mailbox.
You can opt out of the medallions and save yourself $10 if you don't want them installed.

My photography skills are nil, but you get the idea.
(The bottom picture shows their true color better than the top one does.)

I have Miculeks on my 5" 629 and I really like them.

I imagine they would feel pretty nice on the lighter framed 586. The only thing that I don't care for about the grips is that they are pretty slick. Not that big of a deal though. May try my hand at checkering them someday. You may also want to check out Ahrends grips. I have a hankerin' for a set of his Square Butt Smooth grips in Cordia.

I always found the factory targets too large and blocky also. Had taken to working them over on a sanding belt to slim them down. Ordered a set of Ahrends, retro combats in cocobolo, unfinished so I could cut them down....was not needed, they fit my hand like a glove, he knows how they should be shaped. I'm going to order some retro targets for another. His grips are beautiful.

Ahrends retro grips are on most of my S&W's -- grips are real personel -- no one type is right for everybody
