I don't know how many have heard of Front Line holsters. They're made in Israel and claim to be the go-to equipment for Israeli armed units including the Mossad. I don't know if they are but they do make a pretty good holster with some unique features.
I bought this one on eBay last week. It's a leather exterior, suede lined, with Kydex in between. This one is for a 3" S&W K, but it fits my newly-acquired Taurus .44 Specials perfectly as well. It originally had a formed belt loop on it but I switched it to a Safariland paddle that I had lying around, which was pretty easy to do. That snapped strap originally held the belt loop, which is designed to slide over the belt rather than having to thread the belt through it as you dress. Like I said, unique. The loop was comfortable enough... I'd wanted a paddle but the eBay seller was out of them in brown leather for the 3" K. So, I made my own. The loop was not damaged in removing it, so I can simply screw it back on if I want. They have other models available as well in black or brown, priced in the $50-75 range.

Retention is very good. It is screw tension, 2 screws adjustable. I was able to tighten it enough to make removal nearly impossible.
There are several vendors, both regular internet dealers and eBay sellers. I bought mine from a seller that goes by "steyr77aug." I'm thinking of getting one for my 3" J-frames.

I can attest to the quality of Frontline holsters as well. I have 2 and if they made one for my m&p9c I would carry one every day.

I really like the way they sandwich Kydex between two layers of leather: shiny, traditional look on the outside, suede on the inside. Seems like forever that holsters have been lined, either with suede or thin smooth finished leather to protect the firearm's finish. It's a nice touch on the Front Line's products. Kind of a modern take on the classic construction of a holster. I know others have done this before, most notably Safariland, but they seem to have abandoned leather in favor of all synthetic materials. Given the skyrocketing prices of leather, I don't really blame them. But I'm a traditionalist when it comes to my holsters, for the most part at least, preferring the look of a nice leather holster. I might have to get back into leather bending again if it gets any harder to find what I want!
