I saw an interesting revolver at a local dealer today - a 3" rectangular barrel, ported, bobbed-hammer S&W 625 .45 ACP.
It had "Miller Custom" engraved on the side of the barrel, and had a very sweet trigger pull. The bobbed hammer is flush to the frame, so it makes it effectively a DAO.

Anybody know anything about such a gun or about "Miller Custom"?
I'm really tempted to pick it up, but I don't have a clue as to what it might be worth.

That same dealer had a nice blued 4" Colt Python listed for $1050. I don't know if he'll come down at all on that price, but even at $1050, it's not a bad buy for that Python. If I didn't already have 2 of them, I'd probably buy it.
I can give the dealer's info if anyone is interested.

Did it have any other markings like a logo of a "KM"anywhere? If it is a true Miller Custom it is worth what he is asking for it. Kent Miller was a Pistolsmith from Clinton Illinois that specialized in Mer-Comp conversions on S&W 29's where he would replace the bbl and put a fullunderlug on them which he then injected with Mercuery to combat recoil. Then he tuned the action to one of the finest, smooth as silk trigger jobs you have ever seen,Right Mas?
It is so true that "the good die young"

Miller Custom also does some of the finest 1911 work I have ever seen. I can only imagine that his revolvers are every bit as astonishing to look at and would function 100%.

I am thinking it must be a different miller custom, but here is a link anyway.

Thanks for the information, guys.

I didn't see any other markings, but I didn't look that closely at it, either.

I think I'm going to examine it more closely; I'll probably end up getting it. The DA trigger really is very light and smooth - probably the best I've ever felt. I'll post some pics once I have it.

I finally decided to buy it. I can find references to Miller Custom in Clinton IL, but he doesn't seen to have a Website or e-mail address (that I can find, anyway). The KM initials would indicate it's not the same Miller Custom as posted above.

There was no paperwork for the customization, and the gun came to my dealer from another state so he didn't really know what was done to it. The side plate screws appear to be timed (i.e. they point exactly in the same direction when tightened).

If anyone has any information, it would be greatly appreciated.

I really like the feel of this gun and the trigger is great; I can't wait to get it out to the range.

Here are a couple pictures:

My recollection is that Kent died well over a decade ago, maybe closer to 15 years. I think it was something to do with the hazmats that are often used in gunsmithing. I used to live in Central Illinois and worked in Clinton for a while in the late 80s. I've been in Washington since '93, and I simply can't recall if he died before or after we moved.

Very nice! Lots of attention to detail. The barrel work alone is very unique and would prove to be very expensive. I have never seen a configuration like that before and the fitting of the front sight is first rate. The smoothed edges are very nicely done too. You have a great carry gun there.

WaterburyBob- Kent Miller was one of the best Smith&Wesson gunsmiths around. Kent died a few years ago at a to young age. To see more of Kent's work you can look him up in American Handgunner Magazine, He was one of their top 100 Pistolsmith's. That is a very fine example of Kent's work. I used to go up there and see him to do some work on my .45, always friendly and loved his work. You won't find any better. If you ever want to sell that, please give me first chance to buy it.

I'm generally not all that enamored of most "custom" revolvers. However, this one sure spins my propeller

. I would LOVE to run that little feller through it's paces. I really like the fact that it has a set of REAL sights done VERY well. Someone had a lot of money in that fine piece.

Congratulations!

Thanks for the additional information. I'm going to see if I can find that information in American Handgunner. It's too bad Kent Miller isn't with us any longer; the work on this 625 is really well done. He must have been top notch.

2fingers, I'll keep you in mind if I ever want to part with it.

Thanks for all the comments, everyone.

That's got to be the nicest custom gun I've ever seen. Does anyone else have a Miller Custom Revolver? We gotta see more pics.

That is an amazing work of art! I love the work on the cylinder especially. You should NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, EVER, EVER sell it.....unless you want to sell it to me.

Seriously, you have a S&W that is truly a masterpiece. I consider Kent Miller to be in the same category as Michelangelo. Outstanding.

Could you post more pictures of it from other angles?
