....wait until the last possible second to merge when the lane closure signs had been posted for a good mile beforehand?
I just finished lunch and was headed back to my office with my superintendent. Traffic had slowed to a crawl due to a construction lane closure a head and cars were backed up as you'd expect. The signs were posted. There were orange cones and even a big*** truck with a 2 foot high arrow pointing right.
Somehow this um...gentleman missed all that and came truckin' down the left lane and slammed on his brakes several feet before the lane ended. He began to nudge into my lane with no blinker and no warning. He was without any room ahead and within a foot of my front bumper. There wasn't room to let him in so I didn't. Nor did the guy behind me!
I saw him just long enough for him to give me a firm single digit salute and mouth a few obscenities before I got onto the highway. A few seconds later he came up behind me and tailgated me for the next 5 miles or so. He was close enough that my worker couldn't read his front plate number.
I got off at my exit and so did he. He stayed directly behind me a few more blocks and finally when I turned off he went straight. Hitting his horn and yelling out his window.
What give with these jerks? Mathematically, if he'd have left several seconds earlier he'd have been in front of me. Or, he could have merged (properly) in front of any number of cars (including me if he'd have done it 20 feet earlier).
Why is it my fault that he insisted on pushing things beyond the limit and then didn't like the outcome? Forget my rant, he scared the **** out of the guy working just in front of him inside the work zone.
End of rant....Sorry!
