Mini Rant....Why Must People....

I just let them in but I curse them, no not bad words but a real old fashioned curse, comes from marrying a Sicilian.

I see it all the time. Usually, during a construction merge, I'll let three or four people in front of me. That's just me being nice. A few years ago, though, I had been having a bad day. Everyone was already in the right lane before the merge point, then an ***clown in a Suburban got out of the right lane, into the left, and proceeded to try to pass me and cut me off. Well, the ole truck has a little more in the acceleration department than most folks give her credit for. I nailed it, closed the gap (which wasn't really big enough for a Suburban anyway), and left him in the left lane. Trouble was, he didn't stop. He knocked over several barrels then pushed in behind me. I couldn't see the damage as he passed me after the construction, but I'm sure the driver's side was scratched up some. He was pretty upset about the whole deal and expressed his anger in what I'm sure he thought was an appropriate manner. I hope his day got better after that. I know mine did.

Why must people....wait until the last possible second to merge when the lane closure signs had been posted for a good mile beforehand? End of rant....Sorry!

It was probably something very innocent like he was texting on his phone and did not see all the road signs and warnings. Then of course he would take your refusal to let him in as an aggressive act by you that might have caused him to make an error in his texting. You know how important sending a text every 30 seconds is to some people.

That could be all there is to it. Or of course he could just be a……….. Either way aren’t glad you were not born him. What a burden it must be going through life as someone like that. Also he probably does not have a site like this to rant on so he let his rant go in a more aggressive and public manner.

The highways of all states are full of such drivers, which is one reason we have so many traffic deaths each year.

I let them go. You want ahead of me that bad? Off ya go. I'd rather have them ahead of me where I can keep an eye on them, rather than behind me acting like an idiot.
The only time we have those kinda problems out here is when tourists come by. When we come down out of the mountains visitin' family we run into that kind of stupidity when we get near the city.

I have been saying this for years. Why start jamming up 1/2 mile or more up the road? Why not use the whole available road up to the merge point and then merge like civilized people? But it has been an uphill argument as the posts above demonstrate. The lane blockers and the swervers and the tailgaters are part of the problem, but they will never change their mind.

I'm sorta like snubbyfan. As I've gotten older, I tend to be a "live and let live" kind of guy. Of course, I drive an H2 so I can assert myself if necessary. What I've noticed is that the ones who makes a lane change immediately in front of me are usually driving a Yugo, Sonic, Fit, Fiesta, or Fortwo. I think that if I so chose, they would be only a minor speed bump. I also notice that they give the same leeway to an 18 Wheeler. Guess they've never had basic physics...MASS MATTERS!

That traffic engineer is relying on the average driver to do the right thing as described by you in my first highlight. This statement by the traffic guy is why he should be fired immediately. The first rule of traffic engineering is never, I say NEVER, trust the average driver to do the right thing. Add in what needs to be done to control the behaviour in the second highlight and you know the guy has no clue.

Mass does matter. I noticed that my wife in her little blue two door Toyota Yaris gets no respect. She told me she even got stared down by a deer on her way to her clients place. She works as a home health care aid and her client lives on a farm on an old country road. My 4wd truck seems to get a little more respect.

For you fellers that have pick ups, want to keep them off your tail? Leave the trailer hitch on all the time...If they want to come up your tail, and you have to "all of a sudden brake for that animal that ran in front of you and you had to do some hard braking to avoid hitting it", the one behind is going to get that trailer hitch right into the radiator. Maybe..just maybe they'll get to your bumper.

I try to acknowledge the characteristics of other vehicles. (i.e. I know that motorcycles are invisible and have little in the way of protection and that 18 wheelers need extra turning and stopping room) and give them the appropriate consideration. But when a driver doesn't seem to recognize the limitations of his/her vehicle I get disturbed. (i.e. If the bike is weaving between lanes or the trucker is tail-gateing), I just try to smile and watch for them on the side of the road up ahead.

dealing with "humans" is difficult enough...........then there are the "special humans" who are always correct and must always be first.

Violation of Wyoming State Statute 31-201a. DWHUA...

Driving with head up arse!!;)

This is why..when the truckers used their CB's more than they do now, you'd always hear them complaining about the "4 wheelers".

Son-in-law is a trucker, and he has some horror stories to tell about how some people drive.

Welcome to the idiots in KaliforniaStan.......................

They will do that by the dozens EVERY TIME............

I now reside in the Midwest and it is great to have everyone get in line before the lane ends and traffic just keeps right on moving nicely!!!!

Got mine. I actually just downshift. The car tailgating me gets really close, really fast. If they don't get the hint the first time, I do it again.
As I stated elsewhere, the people that live out here know what they're doin' and follow at a respectful distance, it's the tourists that bring their bad driving habits with them that cause the problems. While it's true they bring revenue to the area, they're still a pain in the butt.

Here in the boon docks, a person just gets used to following behind a combine going 15 miles an hour, up a 3 mile hill. Those city folks drive faster on the city streets, than we do driving from town to town.

I think many of us learned that driving say a steady 70, in a 75 MPH on the interstate, would get us there just as fast as trying to go 80 or 85.......(Plus I like to read in the weekly local paper, about the out of stater's who got the tickets for speeding...even once in a while got a ticket for following too close) xxx from Cali, or Ill. fined $250 +.

California stops at stop signs are also a No No.

Those jerks piss me off to. Why must they thread the needle and put everyone in danger around them. When people don't use turn signals how are we suppose to know what thier intentions are. If I don't see a turn signal they don't get over.
