Mint model 36 no dash value?

Wondering the value of an absolute mint 36 no dash? I dont have pics but a guy i work with is wanting to trade it. It has never been fired and no turn line

A truly unfired, cosmetically and mechanically perfect Model 36 no dash?

If gun alone and NRA Modern Gun Condition Standards "perfect", current market value probably starts around $500.

I think Hapworth's valuation is pretty accurate if "perfect" with box, tools and docs. However, without the extras, I think $500 might be closer. These guns, even in NIB or ANIB don't seem to be very scarce. I've seen at least 6-8 of them within the past year at gun shows and LGSs. The Model 36 Chief's Special was a very popular home defense choice for many folks who were not necessarily gun oriented. Many were put into a drawer and there they remained. And now we are seeing them show up pretty regularly in their pristine original form having been traded or sold by heirs of the original owners. However, that being said, this situation (like all others) WILL change and if you can get one at a nice price, get it!

If you've inspected and are convinced of its cosmetic and (more importantly) mechanical perfection, that's a fine price.

A question I often have to ask myself when I happen upon a good revolver at a good price is: would it fill a practical gap in my collection, or would the money be better put toward a different one that would better serve my needs.

Otherwise I just end up grabbing everything I can to the detriment of my retirement plans.

last friday i paid 480, including tax, on a pristine chiefs special with original box,extra rubber grips, and speed loader. i'd jump at a $400 one.

It would only be mint until i got it home, i'm a shooter, not a collector, i love the finish on it though, and also i've noticed the j appears in different places in the serial # on the 36 on this one it's 1st

That's quite a good deal. You can poke about several auction type sites and find examples of significantly higher prices.

Having just bought a brand new 36-10, I can tell you for sure that I would be out robbing hookers and rolling drunks if I had to, to get that deal.

True, not a particularly scarce gun, but an old classic in perfect shape for 400 bucks?!? That's not gonna happen to you that often.

I think it's a great price. Especially if it is a flat latch. A pistol like that is $150 higher here at the Atlanta gun shows. Buy it!

There is a shop in Buford with several listed on their website for $600.00+.

I just paid $349.00 for a 3" no dash in pristine condition. No box. It looked unfired but no proof. Only a little holster wear on the sides of the front of the muzzle. They had a 2" for $379.00.

I had been looking at a 36-1 with 3" heavy barrel in not so good condition for $469.00

They are out there from 350 is a real good price , to 450 and 550 range . I have been looking at a mint 60 in box with the R serial number for some time . and like I posted I just picked up a mint 36 with box ,papers and numbered grips for 350 because I never see them that low

I just got this 3" nickel with box etc. I'd rate it at a solid 98-99% and paid $630 off GB. A little more than I wanted to pay but very happy with the purchase.
